Josef R.W. Colbert

Joey Colbert is a recent graduate from the University of Nebraska Omaha receiving his Bachelor's Degree in the College of Communication. He recently finished my three semester tenure (January 2021 to May 2022) as the program director for UNO's radio station, MavRadio. Through his time at MavRadio, Joey was a radio announcer, sports broadcaster, producer, multimedia storyteller, and board operator. He also worked as an anchor and reporter for the university's televised news station The Omaha News where he published weekly stories through video and print in the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.

Joey hosted his own radio shows, produced sporting events, and provided play-by-play and color commentary broadcasting for the Omaha Mavericks Athletics on MavRadio and OMAVS. He helped successfully run the Nebraska Foundation's 24-hour UNO Giving Day marathon coverage in 2020 and 2021. He also produced and hosted MavRadio's well-known Earth Day and Haunted Heartland specials in 2021. 

 

Joey's long-term goals are working in radio as a sports personnel, on-air personality, or journalist. He has dreams of producing and hosting his own sports radio show or podcast. He hopes to pursue his passion for sports through radio and podcasting.

 

Throughout his time at UNO, Joey had the opportunity to call numerous sporting events, hosted radio shows, anchored on TV, and created award-winning content from audio to video. Links to his work and resume are below.
